Rosalía has made history again after having become the first Catalan artist to win two MTV awards. The rising superstar picked up two such prizes on Monday, for ‘best coreography’ and ‘best Latin’ categories, both for the song ‘Con Altura’, featuring J. Balvin as well.

Rosalía, known for shaking up the world of flamenco introducing urban vibes, mentioned her roots in her acceptance speech. “Thank you, I wasn’t expecting this, it is such an incredible honor, I am coming from Barcelona and I am so happy to be here representing where I come from, my culture.”

Rosalía’s latest hit, ‘Yo x ti, tú x mi’ comes after her first single in Catalan, ‘Milionària’, which is about to pass the 20 million views on Youtube in less than two months. Although she is still a new artist in the international scene, she has already won several high-honors awards, including two Latin Grammys and one Music Moves Europe Talent prize. She also came fifth in BBC’s Sound of 2019 ranking of rising artists.
