A local court in Madrid has finally accepted the appeal of the  Free for Europe candidates, since it does not consider that there is any legal impediment that limits or affects its right of passive suffrage.

The Spanish Supreme Court had confirmed yesterday that the Catalan exiled president Carles Puigdemont and other two exiled former government members were “eligible” for elections – but the institution sent their ban to stand in the upcoming EU elections back to the local Madrid court where it was. The Supreme Court said after a meeting on Sunday afternoon that it has no powers to solve the issue, but has ordered the local Madrid court in charge of the issue to have a final say on their bid “immediately.”
