This petition is in addition to the request of the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, which demanded the release of all political prisoners in Spain.

Other organizations such as Amnesty International, the World Organization Against Torture and Front Line Defenders have also called for the release of Catalan activists Jordi Cuixart and Jordi Sànchez on several occasions. However, Spain has ignored so far the requests of all the international human rights organisations.
