Whether it is Poland, Hungary or Spain. All have to respect the fundamental European values ​​such as the respect of the rule of law”, De Croo said on Tuesday.

Croo was answering Sander Loones, MP with the NVA, who had asked him what the Belgian government should say after the country’s courts had ruled that there is no possibility of a fair trial against the Catalan pro-independence leaders in Spain.

Catalan exiled president Carles Puigdemont thanked Loones for his commitment to fundamental rights and against the double standard in the European Union.
