The protest march has been convened by Òmnium Cultural and the Catalan National Assembly (ANC). Spain’s Felipe VI and Letizia visit the monastery in the midst of several scandals involving former king Juan Carlos I, which also affect the current monarch. The emeritus king, who has disappeared from public life, is being investigated by Spanish and Swiss prosecutors over a bank account in Geneva with more than sixty million euros allegedly coming from Saudi Arabia commissions.
