The 2020 Catalunya MotoGP has been postponed without a new date set for the event. The grand prix had been set to take place from June 5-7 in Montmeló, just outside Barcelona, but this will no longer be the case as the coronavirus pandemic continues to reshape the calendar of events.

“As the current state of the situation is constantly evolving, the new date for the Catalan GP cannot be confirmed until it is clear when it will be possible to hold sporting events,” a statement from the sport’s governing body, FIM, explained.

The postponement of Catalunya’s MotoGP grand prix follows the same path as the races that were due to take place in Spain, France, and Italy at the beginning of the 2020 MotoGP season.

Meanwhile, the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix, due to take place in the same Barcelona racing circuit, is also up in the air. The F1 race is scheduled for May 8-10, but organizers are in talks with Formula 1 over rescheduling.
