“The road to Lledoners jail is a carpet of yellow ribbons”. It’s the first sentence of a long story on Catalonia’s political prisoner and activist Jordi Cuixart in the influential Politico magazine. The president of Òmnium Cultural explains that the Catalan conflict “will not be resolved in two or three years” despite the hardness of the Spanish Supreme Court ruling. “I did not go into prison to just try to get out. Although it is painful to be here, my priority is the solution ofthe political situation”, he says.

Journalist Eddy Wax reports that Cuixart was sentenced to nine years in prison for a 2017 protest in front of the Catalan Ministry of Economy. “Despite admitting that there are days when he’s down, Cuixart appears upbeat and says he feels fortified by the recent Amnesty International report denouncing his imprisonment”, he continues.
