The American company Cisco has chosen Barcelona as the home of its first microchip design center in the European Union. The center will be the first of its kind for the company in the EU and will be located in the innovation center that the technology company already has in the Catalan capital.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announced the investment agreement on Thursday after meeting with Chuck Robbins, the CEO of the digital communications conglomerate, at the headquarters of the Spanish government.

Cisco is an American-based multinational digital communications technology conglomerate corporation that develops, manufactures and sells networking hardware, software, telecommunications equipment and other high-technology services and products.
