The High Court of Madrid has ruled that those responsible for the 2013 attack on the Blanquerna Catalan cultural center in the Spanish capital must enter prison within twn days. The far-right assailants were given sentences of between 2 years and 7 months and 2 years and 9 months by the Spanish Supreme Court.
One of the assailants is Pedro Chaparro, leader of the far-right party Democracia Nacional. He is one of fourteen convicted individuals. The sentence was eventually reduced by the Supreme Court because they did not include the aggravating factor of ideological discrimination or damage to public property, leaving it in a crime of public disorder and against the right of assembly.
