Day 22 of the Catalan trial began with a key witness: the head of the judicial police in Catalonia in 2017 and member of the Spanish police, Daniel Baena. He is the individual who penned one of the most consequential reports for the investigation into the so-called independence case, and he has been summoned by both the defense and the prosecution. Most of the session is likely to revolve around the September 20, 2017 raids and protests.

Yet, Baena  allegedly had a secret Twitter profile named Tácito, in which he may have tweeted against the pro-independence movement, so this might be another hot topic of the day.

Also due to testify on Tuesday is his second-in-command, with the two being the only witnesses summoned for the day, as the judges expect their testimonies to last for hours.
