Spain will begin reopening its borders with countries outside the Schengen area “gradually” after July 1, following an agreement between EU member states to lift travelling restrictions to and from a number of countries starting on Wednesday. “We now enter a dialogue period to decide when exactly will the reopening be, and under what conditions,” said sources from the Spanish government. They said that despite not having any concrete dates, the plan is to lift travelling restrictions “the sooner the better.”

One of the 15 countries included in the list agreed upon by European leaders is Morocco, which has imposed a travel ban on Spain until July 10. Madrid urges Rabat to reopen its borders earlier in order to do the same with travellers coming from the Northern African country. The list includes China, Japan, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Morocco, Algeria, Tunis, Montenegro, Georgia, Serbia, South Korea, Thailand, Uruguay, and Rwanda.
