Some activists belonging to pro-independence organisations blocked the AP-7 highway in northern Catalonia early in the morning on Saturday. It was the first protest action of a new day of mobilizations throughout Catalonia, against repression and in defense of social rights and freedom of expression. “Catalans, let’s take the initiative!” read the banner held by the activists. Police aborted the action two hours later and identified sixty protesters without further incidents.
On saturday evening (6PM) several entities and trade unions have called a big demonstration in Barcelona with the slogan “Without a future we have nothing to lose”. They demand full amnesty, the dissolution of the Catalan riot police, self-determination and bread, shelter and work for all.
The demonstration aims to continue the protests of recent days against the imprisonment of rapper Pablo Hasel, a cause to which more demands have been added, such as amnesty, the release of detainees and the defense of social rights.
At 11.30 there is also a rally in Plaça de Sants to welcome Carles, the neighbor of the neighborhood imprisoned until yesterday.
