Carles Puigdemont left Belgium for the first time after arriving in late October. He landed in Denmark on Monday at 8.30am. The Catalan deposed president aims to take part in a debate about Catalonia in the University of Copenhaguen on Monday at 2pm. Yet the Spanish prosecutor announced on Sunday that, in the event Puigdemont travelled to Denmark, it would immediately urge the Supreme Court to reissue the international arrest warrant on him withdrawn in December. Puigdemont’s lawyer, Jaume Alonso-Cuevillas, stated last week that there was a “fairly high” risk in the event he attended the debate in the Nordic country.

As Puigdemont’s flight was landing in Denmark, the Spanish government handed in to the prosecutor all the police information about the Catalan president’s journey and offered collaboration “at all times.” A Mariano Rajoy’s executive official said that it was for the justice to decide whether the international arrest warrant should be relaunched.

Although there were dozens of journalists waiting for him in the Danish airport terminal, Puigdemont did not make any comment to the press. After leaving the building, he got on a car, driven by a Catalan-Danish person close to him. A woman, believed to be a Danish policewoman, also got on the car..
