FC Barcelona and Spotify signed a partnership agreement in July. As a result of it, the Swedish company will add Catalan to the languages available in their app from this month onwards. At the end of October, Spotify will roll out an update where users will be able to switch to Catalan in their mobile device. This means that the world’s most popular audio streaming app will be available in 63 languages.
The addition of Catalan to the Spotify app was announced by FC Barcelona’s president Joan Laporta during a General Assembly of Delegate Members held on Sunday: “Our partnership with Spotify extends much further than a commercial relationship, it is a strategic relationship. They have understood our culture from the outset, and their commitment to Catalan, the Club’s official language, through the development of the Spotify app in our language, is testament to precisely that”.
Marc Hazan, vicepresident of Business Development and Partnerships at Spotify, corresponded: “We’re grateful to the FC Barcelona members and fans for welcoming Spotify into their club and stadium this year. As part of our partnership and commitment to bringing football and music together, the Spotify app experience will be available in Catalan later this month so that the club’s fans can enjoy Spotify with more ease”.
