The empty office of Oriol Junqueras at the European Parliament

MEP Oriol Junqueras will not attend today’s plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg because the Spanish Supreme Court decided to keep him in prison despite the ruling of the EU Court of Justice, which recognizes his immunity.

In the European Chamber, however, there is an office with his name on it, as ERC MEP Diana Riba showed on Twitter. ‘Within this empty office there are 1.257.484 votes that are not being represented. It’s a democratic shame’, she wrote.
