Export sales by Catalan firms in the first half of 2015 stood at 31,899.9 million euros, 7.16% up on the same period in 2014 and a figure never before achieved in six months by the Catalan economy since records began, according to data from the Spanish ministry of the economy. The turnover for June, 5,662.1 million euros, is also the highest figure ever recorded for this month and joins the records broken month after month in the first half of this year.
The first half of this year ended with export sales figures that confirm the international dynamism of Catalan firms. Since January they have broken record after record in export turnover.
Catalan imports came to 37,814.9 million euros, up 5.83% on the same period last year but 1.33% below the increase in exports over the same period.
With these figures, the Catalan balance of trade showed a deficit of 5,915 million euros, which represented a small decrease of 0.78% on the 5,961.5 million-euro trade gap in the first half of 2014.
Sectors
By industries, chemical companies were the most active in export sales. Firms in the automotive industry were in second place, followed by capital goods concerns.
