Pope Francis has called for “dialogue and peace” in Spain referring implicitly to the Catalan crisis. In an in-flight press conference aboard a plane taking him to Rome from Japan reported by Vatican News media outlet, the Pope was asked about the situation in Hong Kong, but he replied mentioning other “problematic” areas. As well as Chile, France and the yellow vests, and Nicaragua, he also mentioned Spain.

“There are various problematic situations that I am unable to evaluate at the moment,” he said. “I respect peace and I ask for peace for all these countries that have problems, Spain too. It is better to put things in perspective and to call for dialogue, for peace, so that problems can be resolved,” the supreme pontiff added. According to him, there are issues around the world. “It’s something general” said the head of the Holy See.
