The Catalan anti-capitalists in the CUP have presented their lists for the elections to the Parliament of Catalonia; a true feast with names of firmly committed, intelligent, honourable, imaginative and combative people… It would be fantastic to see people of the like of Antonio Baños, Benet Salellas, Gabriela Serra and Julià de Jodar in the chamber, to mention but a few names of men and women who have stood out for years for their work in favour of people and of the country who have now taken the step to call the people to vote.

This list follows the list of the coalition ‘Junts pel Sí’ (Together for Yes), the other independentist group that brings CDC together with ERC and a large part of civil society, represented by Òmnium and the ANC. ‘Junts pel Sí’ has thus managed to gather the country’s two principal political forces with an impressive list of independent figures. There are moral referents such as the singer Lluís Llach, professionals who offer their prestige to the service of independence, like Germà Bel and Oriol Amat, great popular leaders like Carme Forcadell, mayors and sportspeople known around the world, as is the case of Pep Guardiola.

The interest that both lists arouse is undoubtedly the best sign that the ‘revolution of ties and t-shirts’ has started to become reality. In October we will have a parliament with Romeva, Baños, Mas, Llach, Salellas, Forcadell, Bel, Junqueras, De Jodar, Casals, Puigdemont, Comín, Civit, Castellà… The head count in itself is impressive alone. It will be an exceptional, unique and historical parliament with an extraordinary intellectual and political standing. A parliament that will speak in itself of the exceptional nature of the present time and that will have the destiny of Catalonia in its hands, but not just the destiny of the next few years, but rather the country’s destiny forever.

Together the members of Junts pel Sí and the CUP have done their part of the work by coming forward with two magnificent, almost unbeatable, roles. Thank you and congratulations to both. However, we should not deny that we have work, a lot of work to do: we have to work hard to get the largest possible number of votes and to catapult them to the Parliament of Catalonia.

This time, in these elections, our personal commitment is more important than ever and cannot be eluded. We have to work unfailingly and we have to convince as many people as we can because this time we are really going for it. The candidates who represent us in the parliament and all of us together this time can blow the doors to the republic, the doors to freedom, the doors to independence wide open. And I simply cannot imagine any more fabulous task now, or any greater privilege in my life.
