Catalonia entered its fifth day of protests on Friday as pro-independence supporters continued to demonstrate against the sentencing of 9 Catalan leaders for sedition. Thousands attend marches that started on Wednesday in different towns and will culminate in a major rally in Barcelona today. Student unions have called a 3-day strike.

Organised by grassroots civic movements Catalan National Assembly and Òmnium Cultural, the Catalonia Freedom Marches are inspired in other historic political marches. They kicked off from the cities of Girona, Vic, Berga, Tàrrega and Tarragona, and each route will consist of walking 100 kilometers over three days, from Wednesday to Friday.
