English singer Peter Gabriel has ceded the rights of his song ‘In Your Eyes’ to make a version in Catalan, Spanish and English that might become a hymn of the Catalan independence movement. The song will be sung by Mario Muñoz, with the collaboration of Lluís Llach, Joan Baez and Gemma Humet.

There is a music video to the song with references to the protests of suffragettes, the homosexual community of the United States, the pacifist movement of Mahatma Ghandi and the fall of the Berlin Wall. “Our cause deserves the same support as these collective struggles had”, said Elisenda Paluzie, president of the ANC.

The initiative of pro-independence grassroots movement Catalan National Assembly (ANC) is part of the campaign #Makeamove, with which they want to internationalise the right of self-determination and denounce the trial against the pro-independence leaders.
